A rich tale of a young indigenous scientist's struggle for truth between science and tradition as he enters an industry that many feel is threatening his homeland. His complex journey through the corn fields of GMO companies to the loi patches of traditional Hawaiian elders reveals modern truths and ancient values that could save our future.
Special thanks to the Surfrider Foundation, Sustainable Surf, Dr. Bronner’s, Sky Source, and Guayaki for helping making this event possible.
A new partnership between Sustainable Surf and Sky Source is helping The Ecology Center produce its own water – directly from the sky and clouds above. This event will be the first opportunity for the public to enjoy this water.
We are located right next to South Coast Farms on Del Obispo and Alipaz St. Please park on either Alipaz St. or Del Obispo (and not at the farm).
The picnic will start at 6:00 pm. Please bring your own utensils and plate/bowl/cup.
The film is 63 minutes, and will start when it's dark (sunset is at 7:13 pm). Please bring a picnic blanket to sit on or a low-back chair to sit in.
We will be taking pictures and possibly video to use on our website, social and other educational media, and by registering for this screening you agree to our photo/video release policy.
