Description
Learn the foundation of how to plant dye textiles and walk away with 1-2 plant dyed pieces. We’ll cover both the immersion dye (solid color) and bundle dye (eco printed) methods.
Register now to receive the recording of Session One (preparing your fabric) immediately, then attend the live session to dye your prepared pieces.
Session One Recording: Learn how to properly prepare your fabric for dyeing. We’ll also discuss and review dye plants; start thinking about plants you’d like to work with and bring any questions to class. Following this session, learn what to look for to forage local dye plants, or gather dye plants from your kitchen or garden for session two.
Session Two: Learn how to prep your plants and dye your fabric.
Each session will be about 60-90 minutes.
Note: We will be working with animal fibers, silk or wool, in this workshop. Formulas vary slightly between different fibers: instruction will be provided in the syllabus for vegetable fibers, but we will not discuss in class. If you don’t consume animal products, please contact me before purchasing materials for alternative instruction.
