As the meaning of ‘green’ widens to encompass factors affecting our wellbeing and productivity, we discover new ways to measure and record anything. A diverse group of innovative intelligence gatherers will tell us how architectural, operational and aesthetic aspects of space can influence wellbeing. We will hear how simple data recording - as well as more illusive impacts – can be turned into valuable intelligence influencing future design, building operation, policy, and development of cities. Buro Happold’s Trevor Keeling will present research using multisensory wearable technology to measure physiological responses to the building environment - some of which was done at the Angel Building. Ines Idzikowski Perez, UCL, will discuss work carried out in AHMM’s Morelands offices studying the relationship between architecture, energy and productivity. George Bartley, Building Sustainability, will showcase data collection technology facilitating rich information collection, dissemination and provoking behaviour change through the ‘internet of things’. Jane Willis, Willis Newson, will use innovative arts programming at Southmead Hospital, Bristol to tell us about engaging users and communities to create a strong sense of community, inclusion and social cohesion - and a building that is part of a city-wide cultural landscape. Hosted by Craig Robertson, AHMM’s Sustainability Specialist.
