Description
In collaboration with the North American Indian Center of Boston and Northeastern University, the City of Boston is convening a symposium of Indigenous Women and 2-Spirit Individuals. With the recent changes to the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA), museums and galleries have taken a step back to re-evaluate their collections and relationships with tribal nations and Indigenous artists. Join us to hear from Native American experts in museum curation, arts, history, and culture.
Themes will include repatriation of ancestral remains and cultural items, representation of Indigenous women and queer peoples in the arts, the disruption of colonial constructs and gender systems, and more.
This event will take place on the 6th floor at the Northeastern Alumni Center and on Zoom. Lunch and networking time are provided for in-person participants.
