204 Community Way, Okotoks, AB T1S 2N3, Canada
Join us for an evening of education, empowerment and motivation! If you are an athlete, a parent of an athlete, or a coach, you won't want to miss this night!
The I Got Mind Tour focuses on promoting mental health in sports and life for athletes, parents of athletes and coaches. The tour's host, Bob Wilkie, is an NHL alumni who had trouble with his own mental health during his sporting career. In each city the tour visits, a panel discussion is hosted during the show with local athletes of all ages and genders. Within that panel discussion, the athletes share their mental health battles within their sport, shedding light on the importance of prioritizing mental health as much as physical. In the past the tour has had Kelly Hrudey, Kerrin Lee-Gartner, Caleb Wyrostock, Corey Hirsch, and many other amazing athletes tell their stories on the panel. The event will be led by former professional athlete and life coach, Bob Wilkie, whose story through his sporting career is inspiring and emotional. Shawn O'Grady, a mental health clinician and child psychologist, will shed light on the benefits of participating in sport as well as the long term effects of unaddressed mental health issues. The evening will include a panel discussion with local athletes of all sports and backgrounds who will share their own mental health journeys.
The purpose of the I Got Mind Tour is to show young athletes, coaches of athletes, and parents of athletes that treating their mental health is just as important as their physical health; and to provide hope and a safe space to all those to attend.
You can expect an event that will change the way you think about your mental health. The evening is about creating awareness, providing education and insights towards mental health in sports.
