Description
HOW TO WRITE A TAGLINE FOR YOUR BRAND – because you wouldn’t launch a business without a visual logo.
Etc.brands would like to invite you to the second release of our tagline workshop with the Copywriter in Chief Laura Summerhayes from Great Copy Matters.
WHY A TAGLINE?
A tagline is a verbal logo. And while graphics look nice and shiny, taglines are just as important as the visual element. It’s hard to imagine Nike without ‘Just Do It’, or McDonald’s without ‘I’m Lovin’ It. And also Airbnb would not work without 'Belong Anywhere' or All Birds without 'The World's Most Comfortable Shoes'.
A tagline tells people who the brand is in a few words. It helps your brand stand out, makes you memorable and communicates a positive message to customers. Get it right and you’ll have a powerful brand asset that’ll last for years. Get it wrong and your tagline could be forgettable, confusing, maybe even off-putting.
That’s why you’re invited to join us for ‘HOW TO WRITE A TAGLINE FOR YOUR BRAND’, a workshop to get your creative juices flowing and the words summing up your brand on the page.
THIS WORKSHOP
The workshop is in two parts. The first session is 90 minutes long and is when you’ll craft your tagline.
We’ll check in after 10 days. In the meantime, you have an opportunity to test out your tagline, share it with customers and colleagues, and gather feedback as you refine it ‘in the wild.’
The second session will last up to 60 minutes and you’ll have a chance to share how your tagline has developed. Hear from other workshop attendees about their experiences and benefit from each other’s learnings.
WORKSHOP OUTLINE
Day 1:
Why you need a tagline? What makes an effective tagline?
How investing in your verbal brand can help strengthen your brand overall
Step by step guidance to write your tagline
A Q&A session
10 day break: homework + guideline how to test your tagline in the market
Day 2:
Feedback and iterations
How a tagline can help your brand grow?
PRACTICALITIES
The workshop is an interactive, hands-on session. The idea is for you to write your own tagline by getting more in touch with your brand. At the end, you’ll have something tangible that you can be proud of and which effectively represents your brand.
There will also be an opportunity to interact with your fellow participants and founders as you work through tasks together and give each other feedback and support. That’s truly where the magic lies; running a business or a marketing team can be a lonely place. Here’s an opportunity to do something creative that will benefit your business, alongside people who get it.
There’s no need to prepare anything in advance. If you have things such as a logo, a mission statement, vision, ethos or other brand guidelines, keep these close by for reference. If not, no problem, the workshop will still help you to write a tagline.
WHY SHOW UP?
So, if you care about representing your brand well, if you want to put the right message out there, we’ll help. With practical exercises, professional input, insight from your peers and a chance to share your progress, we’ll help you create something you can use – a valuable brand asset.
Remember, the best outcomes come from showing up live, pen and paper in hand, ready to learn. If you can do that, you’ll get a workable tagline, a chance to not only try it out, but to revisit your tagline in a supportive environment as you refine it.

What attendees are saying:
'I liked the 10 day break to consider what we did in the first session. I liked having the breakout rooms to chat with a partner. I didn't think I would like this part but actually it was very useful.'
