OTHER WAYS OF SUPPORTING OUR TECH-IN-THE-CLASSROOM FUNDRAISING INITIATIVE
While our target goal is $103,000.00, to-date, the parents of Givins Shaw Junior Public School have fully equipped 4 of its 15 classrooms with the necessary devices. This has empowered teachers with stronger teaching tools, and enriched students’ understanding beyond the classroom thanks to the availabilities made possible through technology in the classroom.
Our kindergarten class now engages in an international communications program, Janela Aberta/Open Window, connecting them with their peers in Europe and allowing them to gain a broader perspective of culture, language, society and the world. Our Grades 4/5 class has fully embraced the advanced research tools and the many organizational applications available though the use of devices in the classroom; helping them recognize new learning horizons in their independent and group studies, and achieve stronger measures of engagement and confidence in their presentations. We are also proud to have Media Literacy incorporated into our curriculum with students learning code and programming.
Without a doubt, technology in the classroom is an invaluable tool in today’s world, and in the success of our future generations. Our efforts to advance children’s access and understanding of technology can’t take effect unless we have the support of everyone in our community.
