Description
Tipped as 'One To Watch' by Wonderland Magazine, BBC Introducing and Jazz FM, Georgia Cécile is at the helm of the new wave of UK jazz-pop crossover artists.
Growing up in Glasgow immersed in music, Georgia's grandfather was a celebrated jazz pianist. Inspired by the likes of Nancy Wilson, Duke Ellington and Stevie Wonder the vocalist and songwriter's debut album 'Only The Lover Sings' topped the UK Jazz and Blues charts, remaining in the Top 20 for its first 16 weeks and counting.
The critically acclaimed album ('Best Album' 2021 Scottish Jazz Awards), co-written and arranged with her pianist Euan Stevenson, has been championed by the likes of Gregory Porter, Jamie Cullum and Guy Barker. The music has a timeless, cinematic quality, fusing jazz and soul influences with a contemporary edge in the vein of Celeste and Melody Gardot. Singles from the album have been regularly featured on: BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio 3, Jazz FM, BBC Scotland and more.
Georgia toured as the main support for Gregory Porter at the Royal Albert Hall, showcased this year at SXSW in Austin, and is due to perform as part of a televised concert with the BBC Concert Orchestra broadcast on BBC4 in May. She continues a sold-out UK album tour.
