The Gears 5 Esports San Diego Major is the first large scale open tournament of the competitive season. The 3-day event is open for everyone and has a total prize pool of $240,000.
The main tournament is divided into two phases: Seeding Phase and Championship Bracket.
During Seeding Phase, the 16 Pro League teams will compete against each other in Swiss Bracket play for Championship Bracket seeding, while all other 64 teams will compete for the final 8 Championship Bracket spots in an Open Bracket competition.
The Championship Bracket will be single-elimination, with the last team standing walking home with the lion’s share of the prize pool and bragging rights as the first Major Champions of Gears 5.
We're excited to announce the 2v2 and Free For All side tournaments at the San Diego Major!
