Description
Join us for a fun and engaging afternoon of game playing and puzzle solving at John Gill! Games and puzzles are a great way to engage and develop critical thinking and math skills - and they are a lot of fun. The festival is a non-competitive environment and students will be encouraged to let their curiosity run wild and explore the games and problems in depth. This festival is open to K-5th graders and their families.
Puzzles, games, and volunteer training are provided by Julia Robinson Mathematics Festival. The puzzles and games are selected to be enjoyable, age appropriate, and great at engaging critical thinking and math skills.
There will be a table dedicated to traditional Chinese puzzles and games hosted by PlayThrive teachers.
There will also be a table where participants can bring a game or puzzle and teach it to other kids. Please no video games. If you are interested, sign up during the checkout process.
We are looking for volunteers to help engage students in the games. Please let us know in the checkout process if you are interested in volunteering. The games and puzzles will be provided, along with training in how to play the game and engage the students.
This festival is sponsored by PlayThrive. Proceeds from ticket sales will be used to start a game and puzzle lending library at John Gill.
