For over 80 years, beginning in 1861, Victoria’s Agricultural Exhibitions showcased livestock, produce, horse racing and eventually automobiles and modern industrial products. In this illustrated lecture author and heritage consultant Stuart Stark draws on his deep research into this little-known chapter of local history with particular emphasis on our very own lost “Crystal Palace”. Built in 1891, The Exhibition Building at the Willows Fairgrounds was a flamboyant architectural marvel which succumbed to a fiery conflagration in 1907 and is now all but forgotten. Mr Stark will be bringing copies of his recently revised and lavishly illustrated book, The BC Agricultural Association Exhibition Building at the Willows.
