On Tuesday, January 16, 2024, David Zucchi and Adam Sherkin share a biting, dizzying ultramodern programme from the repertoire's edge, including solos and duos for each instrument, with Canadian premieres by Philippe Leroux, Alex Paxton and Charlotte Bray.
French composer Philippe Leroux has crafted unmistakable textures and cerebral modes of expression in his work; Brit, Mark-Anthony Turnage has long established himself as the saxophonist's champion-composer, and the precocious Alex Paxton offers a multiverse sound palette that continues to arrest the unsuspecting ear (in the best sort of way!)
PROGRAM:
Circling Point (2014); Bring Me All Your Dreams (2019) by Charlotte Bray
Two Elegies Framing a Shout (1994) by Mark-Anthony Turnage
Noûs (2020); Dense...Englouti (2012) by Philippe Leroux
Tellsong for solo saxophone by Alex Paxton
Punch, Revisited (2016) for solo piano by Adam Sherkin
