Considering a career change?
Would you love to work as a magazine editor, news journalist, TV reporter or radio producer, but have no idea how to turn your dream into a reality?
It's entirely possible... even if you're 35 and have absolutely no media experience under your belt.
Join The Ambition Plan – the UK's first digital career change platform and event series for women – on October 3rd to discover exactly how to make your media career dreams come true.
Start the evening by grabbing a free drink at our Prosecco bar (courtesy of Thomson & Scott).
Then take your seat for a no-holds-barred panel discussion with two renowned media figures: Grace Dent (columnist, broadcaster, BBC Radio 4 presenter and The Guardian's restaurant critic) and Farrah Storr (editor of Cosmopolitan magazine) – during which you'll be able to get their tips and advice on what you really need to do to get that dream magazine, newspaper, digital, radio or TV job.
After the panel session, get some personalised career advice from The Ambition Plan's team of career coaches, while networking with like-minded women.
And don't forget to grab your goody bag (filled with luxury food, hair and beauty treats from Noughty Haircare, Emily Crisps, Masque Bar, Virtue Drinks and others – worth more than £40) before heading home.
Grace Dent is a columnist, author, broadcaster and The Guardian's newly appointed restaurant critic. She is also the presenter of the BBC Radio 4 series The Untold.
Her media career began as an editorial assistant at Marie Claire magazine, after which she worked as a freelance journalist, contributing to Glamour, Cosmopolitan and Marie Claire magazines.
Grace became a columnist for the Independent and the London Evening Standard in 2012, writing weekly columns in both newspapers until taking on the revered role of restaurant critic for The Guardian in 2018.
Farrah Storr is the award-winning editor-in-chief of Cosmopolitan. Since taking over the brand in 2015 she has led the magazine through a dramatic new look, making it the best-selling young women’s title in the UK.
Prior to this, Farrah launched Women’s Health in the UK, where under her leadership it became the most successful women’s magazine launch of the decade.
Farrah has held high profile positions at many of the UK’s and Australia’s glossy women’s magazines including features director at Marie Claire in Sydney and Glamour UK.
Her first non-fiction book, The Dis Comfort Zone: How To Get What You Want by Living Fearlessly, will be published by Piatkus later this year.
Lauretta Ihonor is the founder of The Ambition Plan and an 'expert' career changer. She began her professional career as a medical doctor and then went on to work as a fashion stylist. Careers as a TV news producer, health journalist and nutritional consultant then followed, before she finally found her 'passion and purpose' as an entrepreneur.
Having broken into the media industry with no contacts and experience - going on to secure production and reporting roles with national broadcasters, including CNN International, the BBC and Sky News, she's proof that breaking into the media industry as a career changer with no experience is entirely possible... if you know how to leverage your existing skill set.
