Description
On SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 4, NBYT will host a group trip to see SOMETHING ROTTEN at the Bushnell in Hartford at 1:00 PM.
SOMETHING ROTTEN was called “Broadway’s funniest musical comedy in at least 400 years!” (Time Out New York). Set in the ‘90s—the 1590s that is—brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom are desperate to write a hit play but are stuck in the shadow of that Renaissance rockstar known as “The Bard.” When a local soothsayer foretells that the future of theater involves singing, dancing, and acting at the same time, Nick and Nigel set out to write the world’s very first MUSICAL! With its heart on its ruffled sleeve and sequins in its soul, SOMETHING ROTTEN! is an irresistible ode to those dazzling musical creations that entertain us, inspire us, and remind us that everything’s better when you “embrace the exclamation point!”
NBYT has a limited number of rear mezzanine seats for $45 each. To join us, purchase a ticket here, email darren@nbyt.org, or call 860-515-8115 and reserve your seats before Monday, January 8. Please note that tickets purchased on this site must be exchanged for a Bushnell ticket for admittance to the show; NBYT will provide that ticket to you.
And, on SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 3, NBYT will host a BROADWAY CONNECTION MASTER CLASS in “Triple Threat Technique” for ages 8 and up from 9 AM to 12 noon with a performer from SOMETHING ROTTEN who will come to NBYT.
Broadway Connection provides students the opportunity to work in a positive, familiar, and intimate environment with current Broadway performers. The Master Class includes a warm-up and technique work in acting, singing and dancing, and finishes with a Q & A session in which participants are encouraged to ask about education, auditions, working on Broadway, traveling with productions, and the excitement of performing every night!
The three-hour Master Class costs $45 and will be limited to twenty-five students. Parents may join for the Q&A and to take photos. To register, speak to Darren Farrington, email darren@nbyt.org, or call 860-515-8115. Payment should be made at the time of registration.
Participants are welcome to attend the performance, the master class, or both. Registration for both is offered at a discount cost of $85.
