Nichols will be performing pieces from his album The Last Pale Light in the West. Based on the historical novel Blood Meridian by Pulitzer Prize winning author Cormac McCarthy, Nichols' work draws listeners deep into the violence and beauty of the American West. Matthew Makley, an Historian of the American West and Professor of History at MSU Denver, will discuss themes from both Nichols' and McCarthy's works while offering historical context. Blood Meridian is regularly described as one of the most important American novels of the twentieth century. Do not miss the opportunity to be part of an intimate night featuring great music and stimulating conversation.
