The film focuses on Cori, a dancer whose unusual childhood comes into play as the women's relationship with the men evolves with surprising results.During the filming of Blade #1, the NYC dancers featured in the documentary made anywhere from $100 to $10,000 per haircut. Their benefactors are anonymous individuals the dancers found on Craiglist who continue to pay NYC women to shave their heads. Brooklyn Connection:The first film from NYC-based director Zuzka Kurtz, Blade #1 was produced, shot, and edited in Brooklyn. Cori Kresge, the main subject, is a Brooklynite as are most of the dancers featured. The film was produced by the Brooklyn studio, Oscillating Pictures using an entirely local, Brooklyn-based crew.
