Description
Growing the Bioeconomy – Combatting Climate Change is the theme for this year's AGM and Forum. The event is focused on moving the Canadian Bioeconomy further along the value chain through knowledge sharing, technology demonstrations, workshops on policy gaps and skills development, and building strategic partnerships between industry, communities, and academia.
This 3-day event will be held at the Clarion Resort Pinewood Park in beautiful North Bay, Ontario from October 24 – 26, 2016. As well as workshops, seminars, a research symposium, a trade show and job fair, there will be a gala dinner and awards ceremony, allowing the best and most innovative sector leaders to be recognized for the excellent work they do.
As a multi-faceted event, Building the Bioeconomy – Combatting Climate Change has several objectives:
Share how the emerging bioeconomy can be a key plank in combatting climate change
Demonstrate the latest technologies in biomass supply, biofuels and bioenergy, bioproducts manufacturing
Identify policy and regulatory barriers to a growing the Canadian bioeconomy and how to overcome
Inform policy makers of the economic, social, and environmental benefits of a sustainable bioeconomy
Understand the skills and training the emerging bioeconomy will require
Share best practices, policy mechanisms, curriculum and expertise from jurisdictions farther along the biomass value-chain
Identify areas for collaboration
