Help Refugees will be hosting this one-off, special preview screening of award winning short film ‘Adnan’, supported by Refugee Week.
Adnan began its run on the film festival circuit in February, collecting two awards at its first two outings before lockdown. This is your only chance to see a one-off screening of this wonderful little film before it is offline again and the festival circuit resumes.
‘Adnan’ is the story of an imaginative ten year old Syrian refugee boy who has had to flee his home country with his mother after the rest of their family were killed and their neighbourhood destroyed. Now settled in the UK, he must use all his creativity to break through his mother’s PTSD or risk losing her forever.
The film is 23 minutes long and will be a live stream followed by a Q&A hosted by Misan Harriman. Panellists will include:
Ayham Kabi - the young actor who plays the lead;
Raghad Chaar - the actress who plays his mother;
Steven Chatterton & Mark Arrigo - directors of the film.

It is a free screening but, as a fundraiser, donations are of course very welcome! Help Refugees are working to prevent and prepare for outbreaks of Coronavirus in and around camps across 14 countries. Meanwhile, in the UK, refugees and asylum seekers who would usually rely on food banks are unable to do so, so Help Refugees are providing emergency grants for organisations working within these communities.
“Adnan is raw, heart-warming and a brilliantly told tale...exactly the kind of story we need to see more of.” - Mena Massoud (the star of the recent Aladdin film)
