Arcadian Court opened in 1929 as part of Simpson's, and was the largest department store restaurant in Canada. Despite the tumultuous year in which it opened, the Court was immediately met with success. Offering quality food for an affordable price in an elegant surrounding, the Court became a Toronto institution, and for many, a family tradition. Throughout its storied history the venue has hosted many important firsts, including Toronto's first auto show, the Toronto Symphony Orchestra's first radio broadcast, and Sotheby's first auction outside of Britain.
