Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 upended global security. The invasion of Ukraine was accompanied by Russia’s deliberate disruptions to global food and energy supplies and threats of nuclear escalation. The United Nations has condemned Russia’s actions – but the condemnation has not been universal as states in Asia and Africa abstained rather than vote against Russia’s actions. Is the war in Ukraine transforming global security and undermining international norms, and how will other hot spots – from the US.-China relationship to global trade to combating climate change – be affected in the wake of Russia’s actions?
Join the World Affairs Council on February 23 at 12 pm for a virtual discussion with General David Petraeus on global security challenges in 2023.
