"A monster tune with a beast of a backbeat" - Tom Robinson introducing A Band Called Paul on BBC Radio 6
A Band Called Paul returns to the Abbey Tavern in Howth, Dublin for a second time this April, following its standing ovation debut performance there last November.
Founded in 2019 by local Howth musician Paul McDonnell, a former percussionist with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra and the original drummer with 90s band The Pale, A Band Called Paul has been a studio project to date achieving airplay both nationally and internationally, featuring in Hot Press and Totally Dublin magazines and being nominated as "Best International Male Artist" in the UK's Radio Wigwam awards 2022.
Now Paul brings his unique blend of indie rock, latin jazz and world music to the stage with a five-piece line-up that also features Ola Pukowiec on vocals/keyboards, Niall Fallon on guitar, Michael Sheridan on bass and Tim McGrath on drums.
With influences ranging from Talking Heads to Depeche Mode, Stiff Little Fingers, Peter Gabriel and Tom Waits, catching this eclectic blend live is a unique experience that you won't want to miss.
