425 Northern Ave, Thunder Bay, ON P7C 2V7, Canada
Evergreen a United Neighbourhood (Evergreen), of the Simpson - Ogden neighbourhood opened its doors in 2007. Since opening, Evergreen has become a hub for the youth in the neighbourhood. Youth, children and families are provided with a safe, inclusive and fun environment offering programming both at the Evergreen house at 139 Heron Street and Minnesota Park. Fifteen to twenty thousand youth, children and families participate in the program.
The programs viability is essential to the neighbourhood. Evergreen operates on a small operating budget each year which has primarily been funded through provincial and private grants, each requiring individual lengthy applications. In the wake of changes to provincial funding, Evergreen has lost essential funds previously provided through the Thunder Bay District Social Services Board. Evergreen a United Neighbourhood is at risk of permanently closing its doors on March 31st, 2020 due to these funding cuts.
4Evergreen” is a fundraising event being organized on Friday, December the 20th, with the goal of raising enough funds to keep Evergreen’s doors open for another year. A night of live local entertainment, drinks, prizes and fun in support of Evergreen.
