Dr. Dean Anderson and the La Sierra University Orchestra will be giving their Winter Concert on Saturday evening, January 27, 2018 at 7p in Hole Memorial Auditorium. Conducting the ensemble will be guest conductor Maestro Miguel campos Neto.
Miguel Campos Neto is a Brazilian conductor best known for being one of the founders, principal conductors, and artistic directors of The Chelsea Symphony in New York from 2006-2010.
Although still young to the profession, Campos Neto has accumulated a number of honorary conducting posts with groups such as with the Amazonas Philharmonic and festivals such as the Palace of Arts in Belo Horizonte. Memorable venues in which he has conducted include the Teatro da Paz (Belém, Brazil) and in the auditorium of the UN (NYC). He has also won several competitions including the Music Teacher's National Association (MTNA) and the Zoltan Szekely Prize.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts and Masters of Arts degree, both in violin, from the University of Missouri and the University of New Mexico, respectively. In addition, he earned a master's degree in orchestral conducting from the Mannes School of Music.
Campos Neto is currently the principal conductor of the Youth Orchestra Valley Music and Symphonic Orchestra of the Teatro da Paz in Belém, Brazil.
Proceeds from this event will help continue the strong music programs and practices here at the Department of Music. Admission will be available at the door at full price:

The Department of Music is located in Hole Memorial Auditorium near the center of the La Sierra University Campus.
