Description
Come and enjoy the experience, of participating in a meaningful and creative exploration of a significant social issue! For our Conversation Jam, we'll be choosing a hot local issue, welcoming diverse perspectives, responding with empathy and interest to each person’s contributions, and having fun, to boot! New to Dynamic Facilitation? If you are completely new to this work, we warmly welcome you to experience this process, as a participant in the creative conversation. Alternatively, you can choose to attend as a witness. (However, please note that we will not be engaging in long theoretical discussions about the process; this is primarily an experience day.) For more info about this practice, please visit www.diapraxis.com/home/resourcesIn Europe, a combination of Dynamic Facilitation and World Café is being used to host highly effective participatory public policy sessions. A recent example can be seen in this 5 minute overview video of a recent Civic Council created to respond to the current refugee crisis. And here is a powerful 6-minute video of this great combination being used in a business context. Are you an Intermediate or advanced practitioner of DF / Empathic Inquiry? This is a “practice day” for our community of practice. We have eight spaces available for those of you who want to practice your skills and receive in-the-moment, supportive coaching. Even if you don't sign up for a practice slot, you will still be receiving great value from observing others facilitate, from witnessing your peers being coached, and from being a participant in a creative "deep dive"!
Logistics: We will be offering everyone a salad and hot potato bar for lunch. You are also welcome to bring food to share, and/or to bring your own lunch. Leader's Bio: The Practice Day will be led by Rosa Zubizarreta, a long-term practitioner who teaches this work internationally. Rosa has a master's degree in Organization Development and experience with a broad range of other facilitation approaches, including Future Search, Open Space, and World Café. She began learning and practicing Dynamic Facilitation in the year 2000, and she has written a detailed user's guide for it called From Conflict to Creative Collaboration. Host Bio: This workshop is being hosted by Susan Wrzalinski. Susan is a partner in the Speaking of Aging project initiated by Rae Booth to enhance the growth and diversity of elder services in the area. Susan's background includes community development work, experiential education, recreational therapy and playgroup therapy.
