Description
For Formal and Non-formal Educators who want to conduct Project WET Workshops.
Project WET is an international, award-winning environmental education program that focuses on water. This program is not just for science teachers; it includes reading and writing strategies while using hands-on, investigative activities to teach about water resources.
Project WET Facilitator training has not been conducted in Florida for many years. This training will give you an opportunity to learn how to use WET and train educators in its use. You will learn how to use the WET portal, overview the structure of the program, and develop facilitation skills.
To attend this training, you must:
Have completed a Project WET workshop (either physical or online),
Attend the full facilitator training,
Commit to organize a Project WET workshop in your area during the coming year,
And, work with an experienced WET facilitator/mentor to conduct two WET workshops within the next two years.
You must pre-register to attend.
Who is this training for?
Project WET is designed for use by elementary and secondary educators. It provides proven methods to teach STEM using hands-on, interactive lessons about wildlife and water. This training is for non-formal and formal educators who want to become part of the Project WET Facilitator Network and facilitate Project WET workshops.

Questions
What is the cost? Registration costs $5 and includes the cost of lunch and snacks.
How should I dress for the workshop? Dress comfortably. You will be both inside and outside doing different activities. It is always suggested that you wear close-toed shoes in a natural area. Bring your Project WET manual too.
What should I bring with me? Because TLNC is primarily a wetland area, you might also want to bring bug spray in case of mosquitoes. You might also want to bring a hat, sun screen, pencil or pen and paper. As an environmental facility, we walk our talk and request that you bring a coffee cup or mugs for beverages.
How do I find Trout Lake Nature Center? TLNC is located at 520 East CR 44 in Eustis. There are several roads named 44 in the area and often GPS or smart phone maps have TLNC located incorrectly. TLNC is one half mile east of the intersection of SR 19 and CR 44 (this intersection has a Publix, Winn Dixie, Burger King and Walgreens) at the northern end of Eustis. You will see our sign on the south side of the road.
Will my cell phone work at Trout Lake Nature Center? Some cell phones only work in the parking lot area but if you can do enable wi-fi calling we have a guest network you can access. Because of our metal buildings, many cell phones do not work inside the buildings. The land line for TLNC is 352-357-7536 and can be used for emergencies.
