Don't miss a special 35mm screening of Werner Herzog's Grizzly Man at The Royal Cinema! Print generously provided by the University of Toronto Media Commons Archive Following the life and death of bear enthusiast Timothy Treadwell and his girlfriend Amie Huguenard, who were camping in Katmai National Park, attempting to gain the trust of bears in the area. The two were tragically killed and eaten by a grizzly bear on October 6, 2003, likely due to the incoming season of hibernation making the bears more aggressive and desperate for food. Pieced together from over 100 hours of video footage Treadwell, and weaving in interviews by conservationists, park rangers, as well as friends and family of the two, Grizzly Man is a remarkable and absolutely necessary watch for fans of documentary filmmaking.
