Description
UPDATE - The inaugural event for the week of Prayer for Christian Unity was a huge success. We'd like to take this opportunity to thank all those who helped with the event, all the corporate and Church sponsors that supported our vision, all the people that attended and most of all Thank God for providing us with the vision of the event and then making it a reality.
When all was said and done Funny in a Good Way was able to donate $3,000.00 to THE GRIND PEMBROKE and we were able to bring almost 500 Christians together to celebrate Christian Unity and have some laughs together.
From our Board of Directors - a sincere Thank you for your support and we hope to repeat this again on January 19th , 2019.
God Bless.

(Pembroke, On) As a kick-off event to the annual week of Prayer for Christian Unity, the event is set to take place at Festival Hall on January 20th, 2018. Fellowship and Bible Trivia start at 6:30 pm, the event official opening is 7:00 and the event will run until about 9:30.
A main attraction for the event will be a family friendly comedy show where Lift up Laughter presents "The Yes Men" and will feature some very well known names in Canadian Comedy and Canadian television. We're so pleased to be able to welcome to the Ottawa Valley:
Neil Crone:
Neil is an actor and writer who lives in a town so small everybody knows where everyone else’s birthmarks are. He has performed in dozens of television and radio commercials, TV shows and feature films and is the voice of numerous cartoon characters every Saturday morning. Probably best known for his six seasons as Radio Redneck ‘Fred Tupper’ on CBC’s hit comedy series, Little Mosque on the Prairie, Neil is also a Second City Mainstage alumnus, an award winning syndicated humor columnist and a Canadian Comedy Award winner. When Neil grows up he wants to be an astronaut.
Kevin Frank:
Kevin Frank has made a career of not being Kevin Frank. Whether it’s playing the 250 different characters on his Gemini-nominated Comedy/Pet show Pet Project or his countless appearances on popular series: the Red Green Show, Daily Grind or Due South, Kevin has had fun not being himself. When he is himself, he's sitting behind his drum kit keeping time for the eclectic country/rock band Glendale One. Kevin is having a blast being Kevin and performing with his two friends Neil & Pat.
Patrick McKenna:
Patrick may be best known for his fifteen seasons as the lovable, nerdy, techno-geek, Harold on the hilarious Red Green Show. But he started his career as a Stand Up comedian before joining Toronto’s Second City mainstage company. Patrick is a three-time “Best Actor” Gemini Award winner for both comedy and drama and is currently starring as Dr. Healy in TVO’s acclaimed new series, Hard Rock Medical. You can also hear Patrick in no less than five regular animated series.
For the Jan 20th-2018 event, “The Yes Men” will be appearing with Special Guest Improvisor - Rick Wharton.
Rick has many hats including actor, comedian, writer, producer, radio show personality and for the past five years the director of Festival Hall. A two time Canadian Comedy Award Nominee, and is a force in Canada’s entertainment industry. Rick has performed at several prestigious events in Canada. Rick also has numerous national commercials to his credit. His latest stage show, The Canadian Comic Witness Protection Program tours and showcases other Canadian comedians who perform improv and standup and sketch.
Rick says, "The power of laughter and prayer are two amazing things, and I'm really looking forward to bringing & guesting with some of my improv friends from Second City to celebrate this wonderful event. These three comedian /actors are the best that Canada has to offer.”
The evening will also feature the contemporary Christian band Gate47 as they deliver their renditions of songs from many of today's top Christian artists.Gate47 band member Kevin Rabishaw says, "It's a well known fact that laughter and praise are good for the body, mind and spirit, so why would someone not want to attend such an event."
Event is presented by Local Non-Profit organization - Funny in a Good Way inc. Proceeds of the event go to THE GRIND PEMBROKE. The event is held with the support of the Pembroke Area Clergy Association. (PACA).
